As many of you already know, I, alongside 16 other artists, was featured in a special exhibit, to promote Canadian photographers and their vision of the Canadian landscape over in Beijing, China. The exhibit was an instant hit and was critically acclaimed for showing off Canada in all its social, cultural and natural glory. This was back in 2009.

I've received, last Friday, an update that sure put a smile on my face, from Travis Joern, director at Nexus Cultural Center and the Commander in Chief of this whole operation.

At this point, it seems that the Canadian Embassy in China liked the collection so much that they've also exhibited it at the Canadian International School in Beijing, and are now in discussions with the Alliance Française so they can put it on the road throughout the country. This is amazing news and I am extremely delighted and humbled to be part of it!

The schedule looks to be like this, so keep an eye if you're ever around!

Refining the site

After a few months of being online, it's now time to readjust a few items here and there, refining and trimming and adding as I go along.

For now, I've slightly upgraded the home page with a smaller text and a logo that takes about a fifth of the footprint the previous one used to occupy. In my opinion, it helps the page breathe and be less aggressive. I'm hoping to apply that same philosophy to the rest of the site soon.

What do you think? How's it shaping so far? What would you like to include or take away, be it from the homepage, the portfolio section or even the blog?

On June 10th 2010, I've decided to have my huge legendary head and its enormous hair density, completely shaved, in the name of cancer. Kids' cancer, to be precise.

Yes, you heard right, Albert has a...no, let's not go there. :)

This said, I've teamed up with Leucan , a renowned Quebec (Canada) association whose aim is to better the well being of children afflicted with Leukemia and other forms of cancer, as well as their respective families. It also plays a major part in aiding them heal and recover from their ordeal.

The goal is very simple. I'm asking each and every one of you to further your beloved credit card debts by a couple of dollars and donate through my Leucan profile at the link shared below.

BUT, it gets better. For every donation you make, I will be personally donating one 12x18" print from my photography collection to Leucan, who'll then be handing it to some of the children and their families. I figured it would be sweet for them to have something memorable to hang on their walls, no? It gets EVEN better. You get to choose which image you want them to get! Message me the image file name, and I take care of the rest.

Whenever you're ready, head out to my archives and choose an image of your choice, then proceed to my Leucan donation profile and do your deed. Make sure to fill out the message form so I know which image you want to have delivered to them. You're perfectly free to keep yourself anonymous if you want, however.

Canada, Photography and Terrorism.

The Ottawa/Gatineau transit system is pushing it a bit too far, following in the footsteps of its British and American sisters.

According to their web page, they are urging their residents to be alert when "An individual taking photos or pictures in a location that has no particular interest, drawing maps or sketches, taking notes or wandering in the same location for an unusually long time."

Although it's written underneath that same paragraph that the original pamphlet was published in 2007 (3 years ago), I'm not sure if the update regarding photography is brand new or not. Regardless of that fact, I, like countless others, believe it to be another step towards the apex of ridicule.

If anyone's deliberately taking pictures to plot a terrorist attack, services like Google Maps, Google Streets, and Microsoft's own Bing Maps provide all the ressources they'd ever need. Moreso, you'd think they (the evil doers) would be carrying small point&shoots or even cell phones to take discreet pictures of their targets. But no, according to the officials in charge, they'll carry huge Nikon D3X and Hasselblad 500CW with them. I said it, the apex of ridicule.

Please, people, art lovers and citizens of the world, don't buy into it. Our sanity is at stake here.
